Privacy policy
This website works without an account, without a sign-up and without tracking. What does arise is set out here.
1 · Controller
- Provider

- +49 30 610 816 100 · info@bisdn.de

- Managing directors: Dr. Hagen Woesner, Andreas Köpsel
Amtsgericht Charlottenburg, HRB 141569 B - Data protection officer
- We are not required to appoint a data protection officer (Section 38 BDSG). Please send questions about data protection to info@bisdn.de.
2 · Principle
This website embeds no analytics or advertising services. Anyone who only reads or downloads leaves nothing with us but the web server log entry.
Cookies or other entries in your browser arise in only two cases, both triggered by you:
- Language choice
- If you click DE or EN at the top, we store your choice for 4 hours in a cookie
lang(content only "de" or "en"), so that the home page greets you in that language. Without that click, the home page follows the language setting your browser sends with every request; nothing is stored for that. The legal basis for the cookie is Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG: it is necessary to provide the language you chose. - Sign-up form
- If you load the sign-up form for release and security notifications, its provider stores a few technical entries in your browser (section 5).
3 · Visiting the website
When any page or file is fetched, our web server records: IP address, date and time, the address requested and the volume transferred, the HTTP status, the user agent and, where transmitted, the referring page.
- Purpose
- Delivering the pages, defending against abuse, tracing faults, and an aggregate count of how often our software is downloaded.
- Legal basis
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Legitimate interest: secure and traceable operation.
- Retention
- 14 days. The entries are then deleted.
- Analysis
- Aggregate statistics, such as how often an image was fetched and for which platform. These contain no IP addresses and no relation to an individual. We do not join up individual requests.
4 · Downloading our software
Downloading BISDN Linux requires no registration. We ask for neither a name nor an e-mail address. Section 3 applies and nothing else.
5 · Release and security notifications
Anyone who wants to be notified about new versions and vulnerabilities may leave an e-mail address. Voluntarily, and never a condition for downloading.
- Data
- The e-mail address and, if given, your name. Plus the time and IP address of subscription and confirmation, to evidence the consent.
- Purpose
- Notifications about new versions of and vulnerabilities in BISDN Linux only. No product or sales mailings, no disclosure to others.
- Legal basis
- Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — your consent. For the record of it, Art. 6(1)(c) in conjunction with Art. 7(1) GDPR.
- Procedure
- After subscribing you receive a message with a confirmation link. Only on that click do we add you. Without confirmation we delete the details after 30 days.
- Withdrawal
- At any time, through the unsubscribe link in every message or informally to info@bisdn.de. We then delete the address; the consent records remain until limitation periods expire.
- Service provider
- The sign-up form and the mailing list are operated on our behalf by Odoo S.A. (Belgium), under a data processing agreement pursuant to Article 28 GDPR. The data is held in data centres in Europe.
- Storage in your browser
- The form only loads when you click “Load the sign-up form”; until then there is no connection to Odoo. After that, Odoo stores in your browser:
session_id(cookie) – links the form to its submission, protects against forged sign-ups; 7 days.frontend_lang(cookie) – display language of the form; 1 year.tz(cookie) – your browser's time zone; until you close the browser.presence.focus,presence.lastPresence(local storage) – technical details of the form page, whether the window is active and when it last was; until you delete them in your browser.
The legal basis is Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG: storage is necessary to provide the form you requested. Odoo does not run any visitor statistics on your visit.
6 · Fonts
We serve the fonts Barlow and JetBrains Mono from our own web server. No data is transmitted to third parties for this when you open the website.
7 · Contacting us
If you write to us, we process what you send in order to answer. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for contract-related enquiries, otherwise (f). We keep the correspondence as long as it is needed, and beyond that where commercial or tax law requires.
8 · Recipients and third countries
We do not pass personal data to third parties, other than to service providers who support our operations and are bound by instructions.
- Web hosting
- Host Europe GmbH, Gertrudenstraße 30–36, 50667 Cologne, Germany, under a data processing agreement pursuant to Article 28 GDPR.
- Sign-up form and delivery of release and security notifications
- Odoo S.A. (Belgium), see section 5.
Both process the data in Europe. There is no transfer to third countries.
9 · Your rights
Access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21) to processing based on legitimate interests. Consent given may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.
Write to info@bisdn.de. You may also complain to a supervisory authority; ours is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
